Sector C - Area accoglienza - Porticato Sant'Antonino - Porticato Montino

mappa settore C

This sector extends along the valley of the “Veilino” river, between the Mortuary Chapel and the non-catholic area; in this sector was built the “Montino” portico in 1925. Inside it there is a good documentation of the Ligurian sculpture of the period between the First and the Second World War, in its variety of styles: there are some persistences of the late Art Nouveau, some geometrical Art Deco stylizations, some sober resumptions of the Classicism, some quotations from the 19th-century realism and some heavy, official monumentalism.

More upstream there is the “Porticato S. Antonino” (St. Antoninus’s portico), whose construction began in 1937 and which was inaugurated in 1955; it has been the last important architectural intervention in the cemetery of Staglieno; its style is quite traditional, despite its monumental ambitions
